Contract | 12-Hour Mid Shifts | Full-Time Availability Required | 4-Week Rolling Schedule (Block Scheduling Not Available)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in an 18-bed Emergency Department treating an average of 100 patients per day across a broad range of acuities
- Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 standard, adjusting to 1:2 for ICU-level patients
- Operate within a Cerner EMR environment and utilize Phillips telemetry monitoring
- Collaborate with on-site MDs, Respiratory Therapy (available 24/7), and Pharmacy (available 24/7 with Omnicell) to deliver coordinated patient care
- Perform and interpret ventilator management as needed; NIHSS assessment competency required
- Fulfill weekend shift expectations (4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule) and holiday coverage (1 major, 1 minor); may be required to float between two nearby facilities with advance or mid-shift notice
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license valid in California
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- PALS certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Open and full availability required; schedule will not be adjusted to accommodate secondary employment or PRN commitments — this must serve as the candidate's primary position
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in a high-volume emergency department setting
- Familiarity with Cerner EMR and Omnicell pharmacy systems
- Experience caring for diverse patient populations including correctional, homeless, and indigent patients
- Strong teamwork orientation with the ability to adapt to dynamic, fast-paced environments
