Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (1830–0630) | Every Other Weekend Required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a 33-bed ICU setting with an average daily census of 16, maintaining a 1:2–3 nurse-to-patient ratio for adult patients
- Manage and titrate drips including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation medications
- Read, interpret, and document cardiac monitor strips using GE monitoring equipment, with tele tech oversight also in place
- Care for a diverse patient population including trauma, cardiac, stroke, sepsis, overdose/substance abuse, post-stent, pacemaker placement, vascular, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress cases
- Troubleshoot and work alongside respiratory therapy equipment ranging from nasal cannula to mechanical ventilation
- Float to PCU or occasionally MedSurg as needed, maintaining comparable patient ratios (1:4 or 1:5)
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license with ICU experience
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Must successfully pass a unit-specific open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%
- Valid driver's license required at time of submittal
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Candidates may not currently hold full-time, part-time, or PRN employment with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity Health
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; compliance is required for contract continuation
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior travel or contract nursing experience in an ICU setting
- Experience managing a broad acuity mix including cardiac, neurological, and trauma patients
- Familiarity with GE cardiac monitoring systems
- Experience titrating vasoactive, sedation, and insulin drips in a critical care environment
