Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized, age-specific, and culturally appropriate patient and family care using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Develop and adapt comprehensive plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Identify and address patient and family educational needs through individualized education plans, applying adult-learning theory to evaluate and revise as needed.
- Serve as a patient and family advocate, encouraging participation in decision-making and upholding individual and family rights.
- Delegate and assign care tasks to other healthcare team members within their scope of practice, and coordinate with ancillary staff to support patient progress and workflow.
- Recognize and respond to barriers in communication, utilizing interdisciplinary expertise to establish therapeutic relationships across diverse patient populations.
Required Qualifications
- Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Current CPR certification required
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required
- AWHONN Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) Advanced or Intermediate certification required
- Minimum of 3 years of recent RN experience in an RN role
- Minimum of 2 years of recent RN experience in a specialty area
Preferred Experience / Skills
- NURCREEFM certification preferred
- Experience managing complex, high-risk, or unusual clinical situations in a Labor & Delivery setting
- Demonstrated ability to document care plans and patient responses in accordance with department guidelines and policies
