Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medical Surgical Unit. This position requires a passion for patient care, a collaborative spirit, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Shift Details
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Schedule: Days, Every Other Weekend (EOW)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Unit Information
- Unit Type: Medical Surgical
- Total Beds: 30
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1 to 5
- Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule
- Holidays: Work integrates into permanent staff rotation
Patient Care and Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to a diverse patient population, including medical patients and post-operative surgical cases. Responsibilities include:
- Performing patient assessments and monitoring vital signs
- Administering medications and treatments as prescribed
- Collaborating with healthcare team members to develop and implement care plans
- Providing education to patients and families about health management and post-operative care
- Participating in patient safety initiatives and quality improvement activities
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a medical-surgical specialty
- Previous travel nursing experience is required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- COVID-19 vaccination is required
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry; dysrhythmia exam required
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills
Additional Information
- Charge Nurse duties are performed by a clinical supervisor, who does not take patient assignments but provides relief during breaks.
- Hospitalist available 24/7
- Orientation to the unit will be provided.
