Job Summary:
The Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care to individuals with mental health and behavioral conditions. The RN is responsible for assessing patients, administering medications, ensuring safety, and supporting treatment plans in a psychiatric setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and monitor patients’ mental and physical health status
- Administer medications and monitor for side effects
- Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment
- Implement and evaluate individualized care plans
- Provide therapeutic communication and emotional support
- Monitor patients for safety risks, including suicide precautions
- Respond to psychiatric emergencies and behavioral crises
- Collaborate with psychiatrists and interdisciplinary team
- Document all care accurately per facility standards
Requirements:
- Active RN license in New York State
- Minimum 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience required
- CPI or PMCI certification required
- BLS certification required
- Experience in inpatient psychiatric or behavioral health setting preferred
- Strong communication and crisis intervention skills
