Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU). The successful candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to patients with complex medical conditions in a fast-paced environment.
Unit Information
The IMCU is a 64-bed unit that includes 15 designated Neuro beds. Common diagnoses treated in this unit include:
- Neurological Disorders
- Cardiac Conditions
- Trauma Cases
- Respiratory Issues (e.g., COPD)
- Diabetes-related complications (e.g., DKA)
- Sepsis
- Myocardial Infarctions (MI)
- Cardiovascular stepdown and postoperative patients
Job Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse will be responsible for:
- Providing comprehensive patient assessments and care planning.
- Administering medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Monitoring patient vital signs and responding to changes in condition.
- Utilizing specialized medical equipment including temporary pacemakers, chest tubes, arterial lines, and BiPAP.
- Assisting respiratory therapy with chronic ventilated patients.
- Collaborating with healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Floating to other units as needed.
Qualifications
- Active RN license in New York with NURSYS report verification.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in IMCU/PCU settings.
- Current certifications in AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
- Proficiency in EMR systems, specifically EPIC.
- Strong nursing assessment skills and clinical decision-making abilities.
Working Conditions
Shift details include working from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM. Block scheduling is not guaranteed. Scrub color will be navy blue.

The unit provides care primarily for adults aged 18 and above.
