Key Responsibilities
- Provide emergency nursing care in a combined adult and pediatric emergency department setting with mixed/shared acuity levels at a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Perform phlebotomy and IV placement as mandatory competencies required of all RNs in this role
- Monitor, interpret, and manage dysrhythmias; administer emergency medications, IV vasopressors, continuous IV sedation, continuous IV paralytics, and procedural sedation
- Manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, including central line care, blood product administration, and CVA protocols
- Maintain strict isolation precautions as required by patient condition and facility policy
- Float to other units when census warrants
Required Qualifications
- Active, unencumbered New York State RN license — must be in hand at time of submission (pending licenses not accepted)
- Minimum 1 year of emergency department experience (first-time travelers accepted)
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Epic EMR experience is a hard requirement
- Demonstrated competency in phlebotomy and IV insertion
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience with procedural sedation administration and IV vasopressor management
- Familiarity with CVA care protocols and isolation precaution practices
- Experience in a high-acuity, combined adult/pediatric emergency department environment
